Preliminary Task 1:

PRELIMINARY TASK 1:

Overall Plan/ Plot:

the beginning of the scene the screen will appear black and GCH Productions will appear on the screen showing the audience who has made the film. "Close Shave" as the title of the film already gets the audience intrigued by what the film may be about. As the black screen fades away the audience will then get introduced to a wide shot, showing of the character reaching for the door handle, (this is called Mise-En-Scene). We will then use a fade in (transition - editing), this will then link in with the beginning of the film as everything has been introduced with a slow entrance of the titles. As the film starts the music has not been introduced, all the audience can hear at this point is the use of Diagetic music (knocking at the door) coming from the actual film. The following shot that will be introduced to the audience will then be a match on action shot, this will show the audience the character opening the door and walking through it, before the character walks through the door it will then cut to the other side of the door showing the character walking through the door.
He will then walk towards the mirror looking at his reflection, as he walks up towards the 'barber' chair. The 'barber' then calls over the character as he's getting the razer, scissor, towel, spray bottle  (props) ready for the shaving process. These all symbolize the fact that Scar (the character) is a barber. The character going in for the shave doesn't have any facial hair, he is almost clean.
These shots will show more of Scars and Rattlers clothing, as the scene progresses it will then show the audience more of who Scar and Rattler really are and what their character is like (gang related).
During the walk to the mirror and the chair we then hear non diagetic music coming from the edits (sound) of Scar walking towards these objects.

Location:

we had originally planned on filming in the dance studio or the double classroom ( second option) but due to quite a lot of unwanted Diagetic music we had to move the location to the garage (workshop) underground near the AstroTurf, where there will be no unwanted Diagetic sounds popping up.

    Missing:
    - Brainstorm
    - conventions of a thriller being pointed out and discussed
    - pictures to show what sort of 'look' and 'feel' you're going for
    - list of who is doing what role (either typed up or scanned in on your personal blog)

Your rationale needs to show us that you understand what a thriller is and to pitch your idea in a way that demonstrates this. You haven't shown any pictures or examples of what sort of look and feel you want. You haven't spoken about what any of the symbolic props etc, symbolise. There was lots of room here to really explain and show us how you're planning to make this a thriller but there wasn't a lot except from explaining what the characters are going to do.

Location was a perfect opportunity to look up some great thriller movies with warehouses etc, and to show us what sort of look you're trying to recreate. I like that you have some photos of the location you are going to use but there is no real explanation for your choice. You haven't spoken about the fact that a secluded place can be a thriller convention, that a place that is dark and dingy can add a thriller element to a film. You haven't shown any wider context, just said you're moving from the dance studio to the garage because of noise problems.

    - the shot lists are really tiny and need to be enlarged so they're easier to read
