Article one:
- New Zealanders are less likely to watch NZ based Netflix and less likely to subscribe to sky TV, the subgroups viewing on the sky sport channel are significantly lower than that of the overall population of New Zealand
- Netflix in New Zealand is the most popular SVOD service among lower socioeconomic New Zealanders, although there is an indication this reaches a smaller audience than among the overall New Zealand population

- With a reach of 67 percent, broadcast TV remains the media channel reaching the most people on a daily basis. However, based on the the trend showing a decline from 83% percent in 2014, this could well be the last time TV retains the spot on the top of the pile.
- This trend is only set to continue, with the study confirming that 54 percent of all New Zealander homes now having access to SVOD services

- Just like Netflix, Neon has not changed its plan, price, number of usable devices, or trial time limit. However, the Neon net has been cast wider to include different devices. “Having launched into IOS, Android and Web we subsequently have added X-Box 360 and roadmap devices we plan to launch our first smart TV app very shortly”
- The “original” part strikes harder in regards to film. Over the last year, Netflix moved into the feature filmmaking territory, building its own exclusives from the ground up.
- None of this has changed from when Netflix first arrived to New Zealand early last year, though the same cannot be said about the service’s catalogue. We reached out to a Netflix NZ representative who told us the service “has continued to grow its library comprised of both original licensed content.
Article four:.
- At last count, Netflix alone has more than 125 million subscribers worldwide, with 1.2 million of them in New Zealand, while cinema attendance in the United States last year dropped to its lowest since 1995
- While Netflix and other streaming services like Amazon Prime, or Lightbox in New Zealand, may not lead to the rapid closure and tearing down of tour local Arthouse or multiplex, their recent move into creating their own films and long-form series is posing a serious challenge to the economic structure of the Hollywood establishment
